The young Slovak bass Peter Kellner is one of the most promising opera singers of his generation. Already at his early career he performed with the most importatnt opera companies including Metropolitan Opera New York, Royal Ballet and Opera London, Staatsoper Berlin as well as Salzburger Festspiele. He joined the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera in 2018, performing major roles such as Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Leporello and Masetto (Don Giovanni), Gulielmo (Così fan tutte), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Basilio (Il barbiere di Seviglia), Colline (La Bohème), Frère Laurent (Roméo et Juliette), Rè di Scozia (Ariodante), Theseus(Midsummer night´s dream), Il Re (Aida), Nachtwächter (Die Meistersinger) and Zuniga (Carmen).
In the current season he is going to make his debut at the Lyric Opera Chicago as Figaro
(Le nozze di Figaro), he is going to appear for the first time at the Semperoper Dresden as Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoore) and make his debut as Escamillo (Carmen) at the Slovak National Theatre. He will also perform Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Radio France.
Recent highlights have been Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro (Glyndebourne Festival, Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, Komische Oper Berlin, Edinburgh Festival, Volksoper Wien, Oper Graz), Papageno in Die Zauberflöte (Teatro Colón Buenos Aires, Royal Ballet and Opera London, Teatro Giuseppe Verdi Trieste, Teatro della Maestranza in Seville), Colline in La Bohème (Metropolitan Opera, Royal Ballet and Opera London, Oper Graz), Osmin in Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Staatsoper Hamburg, Oper Graz), Basilio in Il Barbiere di Seviglia (Festival Valle D’Itria, Oper Graz) and Water Gnome in Rusalka (Prague National Theatre).
Mr. Kellner was a part of the Young Singers Project at the Salzburger Festspiele in 2013 and 2012, since then he continuously guests at the festival. He was also an ensemble member of the Oper Graz from 2015 till 2018.
He was awarded the Independent Opera Fellowship at the Wigmore Hall Song Competition, the second prize and the audience award at the International Mozart Competition Salzburg and the first prize at the International Ferruccio Tagliavini Competition in Deutschlandsberg.
He has worked with conductors such as Sir Antonio Pappano, Vasily Petrenko, Adam Fischer, Marco Armiliato, Ivor Bolton, Philippe Jordan, Friedrich Haider and orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, the Camerata Salzburg, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Bamberger Symphoniker, the Prague Philharmonic and the Wiener Philharmoniker.
Mr. Kellner was born in the Slovakia and studied at the Conservatory in Košice with M. Adamenko, at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with B. Bakow and he completed his bachelor’s degree with Antonio Sol at the Kunstuniversität Graz.

Už v mladom veku vystúpil na najvýznamnejších operných scénach ako Metropolitná Opera v New Yorku, Royal Opera House v Londýne, Berínska Staatsoper Unter den Linden či Salzburger Festspiele. Od roku 2018 je sólistom Viedenskej Staatsoper, kde sa doteraz predstavil v hlavných úlohách ako Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Leporello a Masetto (Don Giovanni), Gulielmo (Così fan tutte), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Basilio (Il barbiere di Sevilia), Colline (La Bohème), Frère Laurent (Roméo et Juliette), Škótsky kráľ (“Ariodante”), Theseus (Sen noci svätojánskej), Il Re (Aida), Nachtwächter (Die Meistersinger) a Zuniga (Carmen).
V aktuálnej sezóne sa po prvýkrát predstaví v Lyric Opera Chicago v roli Figara (Le nozze di Figaro), v Semperoper Dresden debutuje ako Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoore), v Slovenskom národnom divadle sa po prvýkrát predstaví ako Escamillo (Carmen) a vráti sa do Pražského Národného divadla ako Vodník (Rusalka). S Radio France debutuje v Beethovenovej 9. symfónii.
V sezóne 21/22 sa prvýkrát predstavil v Metropolitnej Opere v New Yorku v roli Colline (La Bohème) v kultovej inscenácii Franca Zeffitelliho. V Teatro Colón v Buenos Aires sa predstavil ako Papagéno, v Londýnskej Royal Opera House v roku 2019 debutoval ako Lieutenant Ratcliffe (Billy Budd) a neskôr sa tu tiež predstavil ako Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) a Colline (La Bohème). V Berlínskej Staatsoper Unter den Linden v roku 2022 debutovat ako Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro) a Masetto (Don Giovanni). V Staatsoper Hamburg sa predstavil ako Osmin (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), v Komische Oper Berlin a Edinburgh Festival ako Figaro a v novej produkcii Dvořákovej Rusalky v Pražskom Národnom divadle debutoval v roli Vodníka.
Na prestížnom festivale v anglickom Glyndebourne v roku 2015 debutoval ako Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro). Taktiež sa v roli Basilia (Il barbiere di Sevilla) predstavil na talianskom Festivale Valle D’Itria, pod záštitou svetoznámeho dirigenta Fabia Luisi. S rolou Papagena (Die Zauberflöte) debutoval v divadlách Teatro Verdi Trieste ako aj v španielskej Seville v Teatro della Maestranza.
V rokoch 2013 a 2014 bol členom operného štúdia ,,Young Singers Project” na svetoznámom Salzburger Festspiele, kde je odvtedy pravidelným hosťom a vystúpil v produkcii svetoznámeho režiséra Romea Castelucci ako Erste Soldat (Salome) ako aj v cykle Mozart Matiné.
Významným bol jeho trojročný angažmán v Oper Graz v Rakúsku, kde stvárnil postavy ako Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Osmin (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Basilio (Il barbiere di Sevilla), Lord Sidney (Il viaggio a Reims) , Frere Laurent (Roméo et Juliette) či Colline (La Boheme).
V Slovenskom národnom divadle je Peter Kellner stálym hosťom v operách Don
Giovanni ako Leporello, La Bohème ako Colline či v roli Osmina v Mozartovom Únose zo Serailu.
Peter Kellner študoval spev na Konzervatóriu v Košiciach u profesora Michaila
Adamenka a následne v Salzburgu na Univerzite Mozarteum v triede profesora Borisa Bakowa. Svoje bakalárske štúdium úspešne ukončil na univerzite Kunstuniversität Graz v triede profesora Antonia Solla.
K Petrovým úspechom patrí 1. miesto na medzinárodnej súťaži Ferruccio Tagliavini v Rakúsku, 2. miesto na Mozartovej súťaži v Salzburgu a prestížne
štipendium od Wigmore Hall/ Idependent opera competition v Londýne.
